Nicholas Fernandez [00:00:00] We can do the re. We can redo the pizza episode right here. We got to get close to the mic. You know.
Oscar Vargo [00:00:07] You should just be right here. Right field microphone.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:00:11] Why would I bring my studio microphone if I did it right and I can't hear.
Oscar Vargo [00:00:16] Sure if I had you right.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:00:18] You right. All right. This is bringing on a budget Florence edition. So fucking gaudy.
Oscar Vargo [00:00:34] Sorry. I'm making and be.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:00:36] Making and that's fine. I like a good and b.
Oscar Vargo [00:00:44] It's like a Lil Wayne song. I was like, yeah it is.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:00:50] Anyways, binging on a budget pizza in Florence. We are going to be reviewing three pizza places today. I have. Oscar Fargo here.
Oscar Vargo [00:01:06] The world renowned pizza expert.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:01:10] Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I know Oscar's really good at cooking. He took, like, a whole bunch of culinary classes growing up or like. Oh, like that. So he really knows how to cook. And I believe in him. In his bed of cooking. I don't know what I mean by that. But anyways, we're reviewing Mr. Pizza in just a pizza. It's called Dante's.
Oscar Vargo [00:01:39] Yeah, I confess, I agree. I mean, we can review it, but I'm just going to share on that comment.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:01:47] Yeah, let's not review that one. We'll just do goose the pizza. Mr.. Pizza two. Mr.. Popular pizza is in Florence. Yeah. Mr. Pizza is more of a bigger chain, while Gusta Pizza has its one shot across the Arno River. Yet pass the Ponte Vecchio. Beautiful place. Both are relatively cheap, ranging from the prices of €10 to €22.
Oscar Vargo [00:02:21] Seven years. Yeah, like a marinara, a booster pizza, €7. Margaritas nine. See, I remember as just stupid things. But. Yes.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:02:36] I mean, they're all really cheap. Relatively cheap. Yeah. For a single pizza that is highly flavorful and like a wide range of sauces from, like, your normal pomodoro or tomato sauce, and to your creamy white sauce that many like. Like me. But, Oscar, what is your favorite pizza at Gusto Pizza?
Oscar Vargo [00:03:05] You know, every time I go to that kind of switch it up, I really like the one they're known for, the booster pizza. You know, having, cherry tomatoes, tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella. I mean, it's it's a really good combo. So I usually do that one. Sometimes I do the Diablo with, spicy salami. You know, if I'm feeling that for the day. But, you know, I really like everything I've tried there so far.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:03:36] All right. Okay. I also try to change it up. Goes to pizza quite often. But my favorite for sure is quite simple, but highly delicious. Is the pesto pizza.
Oscar Vargo [00:03:54] That's not really not the mortadella.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:03:56] No, no, I love the pesto. So. But wait, what? Are you going to judge me now?
Oscar Vargo [00:04:04] Oh, I'm not just I. I'm just shocked. I mean, I feel like every time I get pizza with you, it's always the pistachio mortadella.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:04:10] I love that, said Mr. Pizza.
Oscar Vargo [00:04:12] We'll get into that one.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:04:13] For that, Mr. Pizza. But I guess the pizza. I like this. I like the Big Baller Brand. But, from Prada. I don't know why I'm saying it like that. Prada.
Oscar Vargo [00:04:26] Every time you speak Italian.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:04:27] It's a sounds like Spanish. I know it's.
Oscar Vargo [00:04:29] Spanish and not even like Spain. Spanish. Like Bay area.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:04:33] Bay area. Ghetto. Spanish, Spanish. I'm sorry, my Hot Cheeto girl. Spanish is coming out, but. The Paradise cheese bread is finished. The dreaded cheese is always so soft and light and it's just always. So creamy and like the it stretches on. My pizza is amazing. But I do like the pesto Augustin pizza for sure. It's one of those pastas that isn't too strong in days or anything, and that's my favorite. But the fact you've Lafayette Oscar.
Oscar Vargo [00:05:17] He does have burrata is I ever heard anybody describe it that way?
Nicholas Fernandez [00:05:22] Oh, yeah. Entertaining. Oh, yeah. I describe things quite weirdly, for sure. My teacher, wrote me up, and he didn't write me. It kind of like called on me, and I was like, let's not use the word malleable. Sounds very too scientific for me.
Oscar Vargo [00:05:43] And it's like, that's a fair excuse, right?
Nicholas Fernandez [00:05:46] He's like, it's too scientific. And I go, okay, fine. Very chewy. But pizza, the pizza, I think is highly, highly worth the wait. Sometimes it's usually around 15 to 30 minutes, depending on how busy they are and the amount of staff they have that day. Super nice people. They will remember you. I see them at least like once every other week. And they still remember me and they're like, you're back. And I go, yes, unfortunately. But Mr. Pizza, what is your favorite pizza there? Oscar vargo.
Oscar Vargo [00:06:37] You know, Mr. Pizza. I keep it pretty simple, because once you get into their specialties, it gets a little pricey. So, I mean, I really think classic margarita. Those are really good. Last time I tried the their version of the apple of the spices on me is. Okay. I will say they're, you know, they try to upsell you a little bit more, you know, special cross special done this, you know that. You don't know. That's, a year or two, that they tack on the price. So I will say when I go there, I do feel like they're trying to upsell me rather than really just allowing me to, to get the pizza that I want to enjoy it.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:07:22] Yeah. And, I unfortunately don't remember the name of the pizza. I always get there.
Oscar Vargo [00:07:29] The mortadella.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:07:30] There you go. The mortadella.
Oscar Vargo [00:07:33] And I feel like they have a different name for it, though.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:07:35] It is a bit name.
Oscar Vargo [00:07:36] Everything a little bit weird.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:07:38] Oh. The Sicilian. It's the Sicilian. And super, super crunchy. I like the crust. On it. There's, like, a good undercarriage, especially with the pistachios on top. It really adds a fun texture in your mouth. Like, I don't like. It's not, like, disgusting, but it's pretty awesome. And the way the cheese and the the meat just complement each other. Beautiful. But yeah, I think if you really want your money's worth on pizza. We really have to try. Gusta pizza, personally, I think.
Oscar Vargo [00:08:32] Yeah.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:08:33] Affordable. Very delicious. And a great selection of wines and beers that are relatively on the cheaper side that are still flavorful. But Mr. Pizza also has a special deal and depending on what pizza you order, you can get a beer with it as well as a dessert. But that is not something I personally like the most. What about you, Oskar? Which one is your favorite?
Oscar Vargo [00:09:08] Honestly, I agree, I think goose of pizza. Especially if you're going lunchtime, you know, you're not going to have to wait as long. Look up the hours, because they do. Closed between lunch and dinner. I learned that one the hard way. And. Yeah, I mean, I always think lunch is a little bit less busy there than than the dinner time rush. So if you're if you're looking to get in a little bit quicker, that's what I'd recommend. I feel like Mr. Pizza is good, but I just go there kind of out of out of a convenience factor. You know, if I don't really want to make the walk over to the pizza across the pond to Vecchio, you know, a few blocks down, first Mr. Pizza just being kind of right outside our door.
 Nicholas Fernandez [00:09:50] Yeah.
Oscar Vargo [00:09:51] You know, and the pizza, the pizza there is not bad, you know, it's you can always get in and get a table. It's a it's a solid pizza. I just really think gusset pizza look more flavorful but cheaper. I think better selection of wine and beer as well. The complement, the pizza is, really, for me, that's kind of a winter influence.
Nicholas Fernandez [00:10:12] All right. So there you have it. Some of the most popular pizza ideas in Florence. And yeah, because the pizza won this round, so. Catch you later. Ciao.
